Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- The foothills are the backyard to the city. People hike, ride bikes and take their dogs into the foothills daily. KTVB staff report Ridge to Rivers has received the approval to use $52,000 to make the backyard even more accessible. The money comes from open space and clean water levy funding. (KTVB.com)
- Local children with medical challenges heading off to summer camp face difficulties. CBS2 news staff report Blackrock Homes has stepped up and started building 12 new ADA cabins and two shower houses as a gift for Idaho's children dealing with medical challenges. Camp Rainbow Gold is spearheading the building of Hidden Paradise, Idaho’s only medically designed, accessible, adaptive camp to be used not only for oncology camps, but by other nonprofits from across the state with the first cabin being built as a prototype. (Idaho News)
- Idaho Gov. Brad Little has said "no thanks" to debates prior to the election. The IdahoCapitalSun's Clark Corbin writes Little has joined with U.S. Reps. Russ Fulcher and Mike Simpson, both R-Idaho, in deciding not to field questions in a public forum. Producers of the debates have called off the televised events due to the decisions. (idahocapitalsun)
- The Boise Daily never tires of writing this story. KIVI-TV's Cooper Waytenick has the good news Idaho's gas prices dropped another six cents in the last week. The average price for a gallon of regular is $4.41 per gallon. This price is down 81 cents from our historic high just this past summer. (kivitv)
- A committee of local homebuilders has some explaining to do. BoiseDev reporter Margaret Carmel writes the Idaho Secretary of State has ordered the Building Industry Group of Treasure Valley, a nonprofit industry group run by Tradewinds General Contracting Principal Steve Martinez and Avimor principal Dan Richter, to disclose its donors and pay a fine. The group was highly visible in the 2020 and 2021 Ada County municipal elections. (boisedev)
