The quickest way to get caught up on everything worth knowing around town today.

Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.
COVID-19 has claimed an additional celebration as a north end event has been called off due to the pandemic. For those looking for a rental, a nonprofit has a few dates open to assist. ISP will be out and about this weekend, and a volunteer has planted thousands of pollinating plants around town. Finally, a reward has been offered to help with the case of a missing Fruitland child.

Here are the top stories in Boise today:

- If you are struggling to find a rental in Boise, the Idaho Capital Sun and Kelcie Moseley-Morris have some helpful news. The Jesse Tree announced the organization will hold eight rental assistance pop-up events between now and Sept. 22. (IdahoCapitalSun)
- The Labor Day weekend is upon us and the long weekend marks the end of summer. The Idaho State Police is marking the event with increased patrols looking for dangerous and impaired drivers as reported by KIDO-AM's Kevin Miller. (KIDO)

Today in Boise:
- The Treasure Valley Mustang and Ford Club (TVMFC) is pleased to announce that the 42nd Annual International Mustang Meet will be taking place in the Treasure Valley Sept. 3-6, 2021.
The International Mustang Meet (IMM) began in 1980 when two Ford Mustang owners, one American and one Canadian, met at a World of Wheels car show while each was showing a Mustang Convertible. They became best friends and thought it would be a great idea for an International Mustang Meet to be held each year. They would start in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada and then swap between the U.S. and Canada each year. Today, the event has become more than a car show. There are typically 300-500 Mustangs and/or Ford-powered vehicles that gather each Labor Day weekend, and it has become a social event reuniting friends made through the years. (10 a.m.) - Take a walking tour of Boise history few discuss. Local history can be overly positive, focusing on the events and people that residents can be proud of, area businesses and governments want people to move here after all. However, these rosy histories are only partially true. Some of the local businessmen, and a woman or two, we praise established their wealth by exploiting the women of the oldest profession in the world. Quite a few of the beautiful old houses in Boise witnessed grizzly murders, as did a hotel or two. Ghost stories proliferate in old newspapers and "mad" doctors, semi-normal in their day, practiced "medicine" on the local population. (10 a.m.)
- Experience Garden City and celebrate the Valley's most vibrant, up-and coming community will feature over 80 vendors that includes local wineries and breweries, food trucks, local artists, community and business vendors, kid's activities, music and more! Families are welcome and will find all sorts of kid-friendly activities for all ages, Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. at 34th Street, Garden City. (11 a.m.)
- Ten area 4-H'ers have spent the summer gentling and training yearling mustangs for a trail challenge show and adoption into new homes! The horses will be available in a competitive bid adoption auction on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 11:30 a.m. in the Grandstand arena at the Eastern Idaho State Fair. To bid, complete a BLM Adoption Application: https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files/4710-010.pdf . The starting bid is $125, of which $25 goes to the BLM and the rest goes to the 4-H training club. (11:30 a.m.)
