One Dead After Officer-Involved Shooting In Garden City
A 58-year old male is dead after a domestic violence incident was reported in Garden City just after midnight in Garden City.

GARDEN CITY — A 58-year old man is dead after an incident occured just after midnight in Garden City on Tuesday, April 13.

Garden City Police report three officers responded to a domestic violence call on North Quinella, near the Boise River off East 52nd Street. Upon arrival at the home, the man came out and pointed a gun at the officers. He verbally threatened the three officers before two officers fired shots, striking the male. Paramedics were called and the officers started life-saving procedures.

The identity of the man has not been released.
Garden City Police Chief Rick Allen issued the following statement on the incident. "This was an unfortunate and very scary incident, and we are fortunate that the calling party nor any of our officers were injured or killed," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the decedent’s family as well as our officers and their families. Although police officers understand and accept the risk, none of us want to be involved in this type of incident. This incident will leave a void in a family and will change the lives of the officers forever.”

The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the incident with the Ada County Sheriff's Office leading the investigation. An internal investigation by Garden City Police is also being conducted.
The officers involved were wearing recording devices and video and audio of the incident was retrieved.
