Pedestrian Dead After I-84 Incident

A man is dead after walking into traffic, laying down, and being struck by a vehicle.

BOISE, ID — On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at approximately 4:08 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a pedestrian versus vehicle fatality crash, on Interstate 184 at milepost 2, in Boise.

Amanda Quinn, 39, of Lynden, Washington, was traveling in the right lane eastbound on Interstate 184 in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Hansel Ashby, 58, of Boise, was traveling behind Quinn in a 2003 Volvo XC90.

Seth Olaveson, 27, of Rigby, walked into the right lane from the shoulder, laid down, and was struck by Quinn's vehicle.

Ashby attempted to avoid Olaveson and collided with Quinn in the right lane.

Olaveson succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. The two right lanes were blocked for approximately two hours and ten minutes. This crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
