Hey, people of Boise! It's me again, John Braese, your host of the Boise Daily.

This past weekend was not the nicest to be outside, but the Boise Marathon marched on. East Junior High School was the site of a very special blood drive and computer hackers hit both a local television station and a Halloween candy staple. Finally, we have a weekend getaway cabin you need to see and it is just outside of Boise.

  1. The weather was not kind to the runners, but after a year off due to the pandemic, the Boise Marathon was back on Sunday. KIVI-TV's Steve Dent braved the wind and rain to cover the race and also provide a full listing of the results. (6 On Your Side)
  2. The need for blood remains high, but thanks to a Boise family of a 12-year-old cancer patient in Boise, a few more bags have been filled. KTVB-TV's Shirah Matsuzawa speaks with the family of Ethan Nguyen at East Junior High School, site of the blood drive. (KTVB)
  3. A staple on Halloween was hit by a computer hacker according to Food & Wine's Jelisa Castrodale. A hacker launched a ransomware attack against Ferrara Candy, the makers of candy corn. What the hacker failed to realize is Halloween candy is shipped to stores in August. (foodandwine)
  4. A hacker also attacked a local television station, forcing the weatherman to complete his forecast the old fashioned way. BoiseDev editor Don Day shows how KBOI meteorologist Roland Steadham did the forecast with nothing more than a marker and easel. (BoiseDev)
  5. If you are looking to get away for a weekend, LITE-FM's Nikki West may have the answer. A cabin is available just outside of Boise for $425 per night, but includes a kids playroom, adult bar, gym and an outdoor hot tub. The cabin sleeps 7 so find some friends. (liteonline)
