Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- A Boise legislator wants those renting a home in Idaho to have the same protections now seen by mortgage payers and those renting storage units as it pertains to fees. BoiseDev senior reporter Margaret Carmel reports Sen. Ali Rabe (D-Boise), has the backing of landlords and tenants’ rights groups to require fees for renters to be “reasonable.” (boisedev.com)
- If someone in your household is a member of the graduating class of 2036, the Boise School District is inviting you to an open house. All Boise School District elementary schools will hold a Kindergarten Registration/Open House on March 2. (Boise Patch)
- Boise Police are investigating a number of small fires set in downtown Boise starting on the afternoon of Jan. 27. CBS2 news staff report the fires are started in dumpsters and no injuries have occurred. Police currently do not have a description of those involved. (Idaho News)
- A Boise State University professor remains on staff even after an announcement was made of his new employment with a Florida-based conservative think tank. IdahoEdNews reporter Kevin Richert writes Scott Yenor's hiring was announced by the Claremont Institute in Florida, but BSU officials state Yenor remains on staff at the local university. Yenor is best known for stating career-oriented women were “medicated, meddlesome and quarrelsome” while speaking at a conservative conference in 2021. (idahoednews)
- If you are still seeking that perfect gift for Valentine's Day, the BoiseWeekly's Jeanne Huff may be able to help. A box of chocolates may be nice, but if you wish to be more blunt and "risque," the Flying M Gift Shop may have what you are searching for in the candy selection. (boiseweekly)
