Welcome neighbors to the Saturday edition of the Boise Daily. All signs point to the issue of a homeless shelter on State Street will end up in court after the Boise City Council denied a request to reconsider their past decision. Unemployment in Idaho stands at a record low and Ford owners, take note of a recent recall. School districts across the state are not receiving applications for new teachers and on land or water, Boise tours are available.

- The Boise City Council, citing no new information was available, denied two requests to reconsider their past approval of Interfaith Sanctuary’s conditional use permit for a homeless shelter on State Street. KTVB-TV carries a story originally written by Idaho Press reporter Carolyn Komatsoulis with quotes by council members prior to the 4-2 vote. The Veterans Park Neighborhood Association has announced legal action to stop the shelter from remodeling the old Salvation Army building. (KTVB.com)
- Here is a record we need to celebrate. CBS2 news staff report the unemployment rate for Idaho dropped to 2.5 percent, a record low for the state. According to one source, there are currently 2.7 job openings for every unemployed Idahoan. (idahonews)
- We will now switch to some not great news for some Ford owners. The auto maker, according to Patch.com, is issuing a recall for nearly 3 million cars, SUVs and cargo vans after reports the vehicles can simply roll away while parked. Notification letters from Ford to vehicle owners are expected to be mailed out June 27. (Patch.com)
- Your child may not wish to think of this, but in just a few short months students will once again enter the classroom. According to idahoednews reporter Kevin Richert, a teacher may be missing from the fall classroom. Across the state, over 700 teacher vacancies remain open with many districts reporting no applications received for openings. The article states pay is one issue, but teachers are also leaving due to stress and political pressures. (idahoednews)
- Summer in Boise is the time to get out and experience new things. BoiseDev reporter Anna Daly provides two new ideas, one on land and one on water. The Feelin" Groovy Tours will drive you around our city in a restored 1976 Volkswagen bus and with a short drive to Lucky Peak, you can enjoy Pedal and Pint’s new boat tour for a day on the water.
