Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- At age 20, a Nampa woman will spend at least 18 years in prison for a Boise hotel murder. KTVB-TV staff report Eava June-McCarthy was sentenced Friday for killing a man in October 2020 during an attempted robbery in a Boise hotel room. Gamaleil Nava was found in the hallway of the hotel with both gunshot and stab wounds and died at a Boise hospital. (KTVB.com)
- Faster. Farther. More. A wise person once said records were made to be broken, but Boise is fast approaching a record not too many wanted to see. CBS2 news staff write the capital city's temperature recently exceeded 100 degrees this year for the 18th time. The record for most days over 100 degrees is 20, set in 2003. Looking at the forecast for next week, 2022 could set the record with room to spare. (Idaho News)
- Local grocery giant Albertsons is using Boise as a test for customer self-checkouts. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the store located at Five Mile Rd. and Ustick Rd. is one of two stores in a pilot program cutting out checkers and using "assisted checkout lanes." Albertsons reports "assisted checkout attendants" are available to give a helping hand when needed and employees will remain to bag and take your groceries out to the parking lot. (boisedev.com)
