  1. The holiday is just not the same without lights and first responders from around the area gathered to make sure children at a local hospital enjoyed lights. KTVB-TV's Abby Davis was present along with first responders from about 10 different agencies at St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital for 'Shine A Light.' Even Santa made an appearance on a ladder truck. (KTVB)
  2. One of Boise's largest employers, Micron Technology has announced it will cut its workforce by 10 percent. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the tech giant said job cuts would come through both voluntary employee departures, as well as layoffs. Bonus payments to employees for the fiscal year of 2023 will also be suspended. (boisedev)
  3. A new school is going up in Guatemala due to some Boise residents. The Boise Weekly's Natalie Holsten explains the school is constructed of plastic bottles filled with inorganic trash and cost only $25,000 to build, financed by Boise workers. (boiseweekly)
  4. It is cold in Boise. CBS2's Vasili Varlamos reports Boise is having problems getting out of the teens for a high and with the wind, the temperature feels like zero. The mountains around us are seeing -30 degrees and a winter weather advisory is in effect for the lower Treasure Valley, the upper Weiser River, and for Malheur County. (idahonews)
  5. Idaho has already done it and it appears the federal government will follow soon. The IdahoCapitalSun's Jacob Fischler writes a ban on federal employees using TikTok on their government-issued phones is on track to become law after Congress included the provision in the year-end government funding bill released early Tuesday. Boise State University will block access to TikTok from university devices and nonstudent networks in response to Idaho's ban on the social media platform. You may wish to hide this story from the teenager in the house as U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican, has introduced a bipartisan bill to ban TikTok from the country altogether.
