Hello all. I'm back with your new edition of the Boise Daily, fresh off the presses. Here's all the local news you need to know right now.
The Boise Daily's reader question of the day goes back to our Monday story on downtown cruising on Friday and Saturday nights. Legislators are making plans to return to Boise earlier than anticipated and local animals are looking to spend the fall in your house. Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- One local family may finally have closure. KMVT staff report a body was discovered and removed from Lucky Peak Reservoir on Monday. Although the coroner has not positively identified the man, the recovery came in an area where a 46-year-old man was last seen swimming on July 31. (KMVT)
- Parking around the state capital will be at a premium on Sept. 1. The Idaho Capital Sun's Clark Corbin announced Gov. Brad Little has officially called for a special session of the Legislature to discuss cutting taxes and increasing education funding. The session will begin Sept. 1 and vote on Little's proposal to provide $500 million in one-time tax rebates, lower the income tax rate from 6 percent to 5.8 percent, establish a flat tax rate for all income tax filers and exempt the first $2,500 of income. Also on the table will be a one-time, minimum rebate of $300 while joint filers would receive a minimum of $600. Idaho is projected to have a surplus of $2 billion this year. (idahocapitalsun)

- A brush fire started by a vehicle blackened approximately 710 acres just outside of Boise. CBS2 news staff write the fire started Monday with crews having the blaze contained by 8 p.m. Monday evening. The blaze, dubbed the Doubletapp Fire, started after a vehicle caught fire near Simco Road. Crews from Boise City Fire, Orchard Fire and Mountain Home Rural Fire Protection Association assisted Bureau of Land Management crews in getting a handle on the fire. (idahonews)
- In 1897, Boise families loaded up the kids and started out for a day at the fair at the Idaho Agriculture Park located near 21st Street in downtown Boise. KTVB-TV staff provide a history of our local fair complete with the move to Fairview Avenue in 1902 and a second move to the current site in 1967. (KTVB)
