Here are the top stories in Boise today:
- Our wildfires in the area played heck with local schools attempting to play some sports over the weekend. KTVB-TV reports due to air quality issues, numerous high school football games were moved or postponed. (KTVB.com)
- Saturday marked a day when recipients could receive a new tattoo and also raise awareness for suicide prevention in Boise. KIVI-TV's Brendyn Jones was in attendance as Resurrection Tattoo and Piercing partnered with the Idaho Crisis and Suicide Hotline to give semi-colon tattoos. The semi-colon has become a symbol for suicide prevention in the past decade. Half the proceeds from each tattoo was donated to the Idaho Crisis and Suicide Hotline. (Idaho News 6 Boise Twin Falls)
- Boise parents are encouraged to apply for a $1,000 grant per child to cover educational costs. IdahoEdNews reporter Carly Flando explains the Empowering Parents grant open to all Idahoans to assist in paying for internet access, technology, textbooks, standardized test fees, therapy, or educational programs. The grants will be paid for with federal coronavirus aid monies; state general funds will pay for up to approximately $1.2 million in administrative costs. (idahoednews)
- Planning for this upcoming weekend, the Boise Weekly previews the Hyde Park Street Fair, opening Friday, Sept. 16. Over 150 vendors and dozens of bands will be set up in Camel's Back Park for the festivities. (boiseweekly)
- Football season is here in Boise. High schools are out on the field as are the Broncos and kicking back on Sunday watching your favorite NFL team (go Bears). With football comes eating and Taste of Home's Laura Denby provides 60, yes 60, football foods you can make for friends and family. (tasteofhome)
