Here are the top stories in Boise today:

  1. If you are like me, having a child at home for the summer means the shopping trip is taking a few more dollars as they are always hungry. For many, the added expense is just not in the budget. The Idaho Capital Sun's Mia Maldonado reports assistance is available as the Idaho State Department of Education’s Summer Food Service Program will provide children ages 1 to 18 with free meals and snacks. The article includes numerous methods to find a meal site close to you in Boise. (idahocapitalsun)
  2. Boise Daily fans probably saw the alert on their phones. CBS2 news staff report the Amber Alert issued in Nampa has been canceled after two children were found. The children were abducted by a babysitter, Sierra Martinez. The alert warned Martinez may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the abduction. (idahonews)
  3. Amy, Gigi and Spanky would like to meet you. These are just three of the pets up for adoption in the Boise area and Boise Patch is pleased to introduce these three and more to your family. Hopefully, a match can be found allowing one of these pets to become a new family member in your household. (Boise Patch)
  4. A Brave. A Wolf. An Eagle. A Lion. Lite-FM's Michelle Heart reports four Boise high schools were recently voted among the top 10 high schools in the state. Factors included in the scoring by Niche.com included academics, teachers, clubs and activities, administration, food, diversity, college prep, health and safety, sports and resources and facilities. The lowest grade for all four of the local schools came in one area: food! (107.9 LITE FM)
  5. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean is positive for COVID-19. Newsbreak reports McLean announced the positive test in a tweet from her official Boise Mayor Twitter account. The mayor said her symptoms are mild, but that she "coughs a ton at night." A spokesperson for the mayor states McLean was likely exposed while traveling for her daughter's graduation. (newsbreak)
