The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Morning, friends! I'm here with your Thursday edition of the Boise Daily, full of all the things you need to know about what's happening in town. Let's do it.
Our reader question for the day centers around our story involving rentals. Have you or members of your family experienced problems finding a rental in Boise within a price range affordable to your income? Let us know by emailing john.braese@patch.com.
Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Boise Daily. A triple murder case, soon to be in Boise, was back in court in eastern Idaho with arguments over confusion of the charges. More of your neighbors are loading up their dogs in the morning to be dropped off at day care, and neighbors and the city council are not agreeing on open space near the airport. New artwork is being publicly shown at our local university, and renting a home in Boise may be worse than known.

Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- The law is many times a difficult area to understand. EastIdahoNews reporter Nate Easton was present in the courtroom when the attorney for Lori Vallow argued the charges against his client, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception, are complicated and that Vallow needs to again be charged. The attorney, John Thomas, is asking the court to reconvene a grand jury to clarify the charges facing his client. In response, prosecuting attorney Rob Wood argued the two charges are connected and there is no need for reconvening a grand jury. Also included in Easton's story is video of Vallow in the court and leaving the hearing. Vallow and her husband, Chad Daybell, are charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for the deaths of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow, 16-year-old Tylee Ryan — two of Lori’s kids — and Chad’s first wife, Tammy Daybell. The Daybells have pleaded not guilty to all crimes. (eastidahonews)
- For a number of Boise residents, a few stops on the way to the office in the morning involves grabbing a coffee and dropping off Fido at day care. KTVB reports the interest in dog day care is growing in Boise and is most popular among millennials and empty nesters. The day cares offer your pooch a chance to socialize and get some exercise while you are slaving away at your desk. (KTVB.com)
- Against the wishes of residents stating their wells are already running dry, the Boise City Council approved the rezoning of 75.5 acres of open land near the Boise Airport. CBS2's Angela Kerndl writes the land was approved to "light industrial," but exactly what will be built on the parcel is still not known. In response, the South Cole Neighborhood Alliance is in the process of collecting signatures now for a 2023 ballot initiative. If passed, the city would be forced to go before voters first for the rezoning of parks or open space. (Idaho News)
- Former students of Boise State University have a chance to relive the past while fans of Mexican culture also have the opportunity to delve back into ancestral Mexican life. Boise Patch and Boise State University announced two new art exhibits in the campus Student Union Building. The first takes visitors on a walk back through Boise State history using photographs and other materials from the university’s archives. The second features works by Marianna Jimenez Edwards, a Mexican American artist whose work is a combination of mixed media. (Boise Patch)
- The cost of renting a place in Boise has gone up 40 percent since the pandemic started. Boise State Public Radio's Hannah Gardoski and Samantha Wright take 15 minutes and interview leaders of Jesse Tree, an organization working to keep Idaho residents housed. The interview focuses on housing becoming increasingly out of reach for many Idaho residents and the problem may be worse than many realize. (Boise State Public Radio)
