Here are the top stories today in Boise:
- A Boise mother has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Boise, two Boise Police officers and 10 unnamed individuals after an incident Oct. 27, 2021, ended with the death of Zachary Snow. KTVB-TV staff report Snow's mother, Melissa Walton, alleges that the officers acted contrary to training and standard police practices, and violated her son's right after officers were incorrectly informed on the status of a warrant on Snow. After Snow was shot by officers, it was found he did not have a weapon, but pulled a small portable speaker from his waistband during the incident. (KTVB.com)
- Today is not too early to be planning for those treats. KIDO-AM's Michelle Heart has your road map for over 25 Trunk-Or-Treats in the Boise area. Hitting all these could cause a tummy ache! (kidotalkradio)
- If you enjoy maps or you enjoy elections, Ada County wants to hear from you. Boise Patch and the county present an invitation to draft and submit districting maps using software linked on the Districting Commission website. Maptitude will be available for the public to use for two weeks, through Oct. 13. (Boise Patch)
- A development group is looking towards south Boise for a new shopping center. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports BVA Development is eyeing ground near South Orchard Street and Lake Hazel Road for two large retail spaces of 100,000 square feet, a hotel and smaller store sites all on 40 acres of ground. The Ada County Highway District plans to extend Lake Hazel Road all the way to Isaac’s Canyon and the Eisenman Interchange past Micron — adding a new major east-west connection south of the airport.
