The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Boise.

Hello there, Boise! I'm here in your inbox this morning to get you caught up on everything you need to know about what's going on around town. Let's do it...
Welcome to the ungodly hot Friday edition of the Boise Daily. Before we start with the news of the day, please take a minute and check on your neighbors, especially the young and elderly, during this time of extreme temperatures. Forecasts call for 109 degrees on Sunday.
According to one report, one way to cool off is to place your home in Boise up for sale as reported in our first article. A trip to a local hospital may have exposed your personal information, and the city is asking your assistance in the form of a survey. A local man is heading back to Boise after a 21-year absence residing in Canada, and you will need to wait a week before grabbing a beer at Highlands Hollow Brewhouse.

- As I compose this edition of the Boise Daily, the temperature outside sits at 102 degrees. Boise is hot outside, but one thing cooling down is the demand for homes. Once known as the nation's hottest "Zoomtowns," the Wall Street Journal's Nicole Friedman writes our city is now seeing the highest rate of price cuts for homes in the U.S. New home builders are scrapping plans while mortgage rates stand at a 13-year high. The article is for paid subscribers, but you can listen to the article with a link at the top after listening to an advertisement. (wsj)
- You were not cruising a sketchy website or texting your bank information to a Nigerian prince offering you millions. However, you did have some blood work done at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise. BoiseDev editor Don Day reports the health provider announced a data breach of 31,573 individuals with a possibility of more as the investigation continues. Information released with the breach includes patient name, insured name, address, phone number, ID number, date of birth, last five digits of social security number, description of services, amount billed, outstanding balance, payment due date and status of the account. - What would you like to see in your neighborhood? A new park? Better sidewalks? A community center or pool? Boise Patch and the City of Boise provide you with an online survey as the city is asking residents what is needed to make your area better. The link to the survey and how to become involved in Energize Our Neighborhoods is included in the article. (Boise Patch)
- A 77-year-old Idaho parolee, on the run for the past 21 years, has been found living in an assisted living facility in Creston, British Columbia. KTVB-TV's Alexandra Duggan tells the story of Louis Edward Flood, a convicted sex offender who fled parole in 2001. Once featured on "America's Most Wanted," Flood told assisted living staff his true identity in an attempt to collect Social Security benefits. U.S. Marshals picked up Flood on the Unites States/Canadian border on July 25 and he will now serve his remaining 13 years of his sentence in Idaho after a hearing before the Commission of Pardons and Parole. - For the past 30 years, the Highlands Hollow Brewhouse has kept thirsty North End beer drinkers happy. If you stop by for a cold one today, you will find the doors locked. LITE-FM's Michelle Heart tells craft brew lovers not to worry as the Brewhouse will soon reopen with new owners. The family-owned business is changing ownership after a sale to another local family, intent on carrying on the traditions and culture of giving back to Boise. The article is also worth a read just to discover the information concerning the wood rafters and the history of the original Bronco Stadium. (liteonline)
