The Idaho Falls Fire Department is set to conduct a live burn training exercise today, Aug. 26, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The training will occur near the junction of 25th East and U.S. Highway 20, involving a structure donated by Equipment Share. Although the exercise might generate noticeable smoke and flames, the public need not be alarmed, as firefighters will ensure safety, and this controlled environment aids in training for efficient fire response. The ninth annual Dash for Down Syndrome event, organized by Eastern Idaho Down Syndrome Family Connect, will be held at Snake River Landing today, Aug. 26, at 8:00 a.m. The fundraiser includes a 10K run, a 3.21-mile walk/run, and a celebration walk, with proceeds supporting the organization's programs and services for families in eastern Idaho. The event aims to foster community connection and celebrate individuals with Down syndrome while featuring various attractions such as pancake breakfasts, booths, and an Angel Garden honoring those who have passed away due to the condition.
