Area legislators discuss upcoming session (postregister.com) — Local residents heard Idaho Falls–area lawmakers outline priorities for the 2026 Idaho legislative session at a Chamber of Commerce lunch in town, from property tax ideas and childcare funding to medical education, housing costs and workforce training. Speakers stressed collaboration between state and local governments and highlighted how upcoming decisions could affect jobs, healthcare access and schools in the Greater Idaho Falls area.
   

2. One piece at a time, local man seeks public help to make his Lego creation a reality (eastidahonews.com) — An Idaho Falls mechanical engineer, Dave McClelland, is rallying online support to turn his Excitebike-inspired Lego arcade set into an official Lego product. With thousands of supporters already and a January 5 deadline looming, locals are backing his intricate 3,000-piece design through Facebook groups and Lego’s Ideas platform.
   

3. "Learning to help": Dora Erickson Elementary Students master the 'Domino Effect' of good deeds (localnews8.com) — Students at Idaho Falls’ Dora Erickson Elementary just collected about 600 cereal boxes in a creative “domino” food drive to stock their Outreach Pantry for school breaks. A gym teacher turned the effort into a fun competition, with top classes earning a donut-and-dodgeball party while kids learn how small acts of kindness can support classmates in need.
   

4. Two east Idaho methamphetamine dealers sentenced to 5 years in federal prison (localnews8.com) — Federal prosecutors in Idaho Falls say two separate Eastern Idaho meth dealers have each been sentenced to five years in federal prison, with lengthy supervised release to follow. Investigators from multiple regional agencies, including Idaho State Police and several local departments, worked together through the BADGES Task Force to build the cases involving meth sales in 2024.
   

5. Utah Valley dominates boards, ends ISU's win streak with 73-69 victory (idahostatejournal.com) — An Idaho Falls native, former Hillcrest star Isaac Davis, scored 18 points and hit a late go-ahead layup as Utah Valley edged Idaho State 73-69 in Orem. Davis also grabbed six rebounds in a game where UVU’s dominance on the boards snapped the Bengals’ three-game winning streak.
