- Anderson Hicks Group is hosting the second annual Idaho Treasure Hunt, hiding a chest with a $5,000 cash prize and other gifts from local sponsors in eastern Idaho. Clues will be released weekly on their Instagram page and website, encouraging participants to explore and discover new places in the area while searching for the treasure. The event aims to inspire adventure and create hope in the community, following the positive response from last year's hunt. (East Idaho News)
- A total of 42 cats, mostly kittens, were transported from the Idaho Falls Animal Shelter to a rescue in Spokane, Washington, by plane due to the shelter's overwhelming number of kittens. The operation involved extensive paperwork and health certifications to ensure the animals' safety during the journey. Despite the transport, the Idaho Falls Animal Shelter still has over 100 cats available for adoption, emphasizing the importance of spaying and neutering pets to prevent an influx of cats. - A section of John Adams Parkway, from Holbrook Drive to Lincoln Drive, will be closed periodically over the next 30 days for water mains and paving installation. The 25th East expansion project is also ongoing, with nighttime closures in the section near MorningStar Senior Living and Watersprings Church from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to install water and sewer lines, with the overall completion expected in the fall. - A salvage order has been issued for nearby Jensen Grove, allowing fishermen to catch and take as many fish as they can without limits. The water level in the lake has significantly decreased through July, endangering the fish's survival, prompting the order, which will be in effect until Oct. 30. Fishermen need a valid Idaho fishing license to participate, and they may use any method except for firearms, explosives, chemicals, electric current, or prohibited baits to catch the fish.
