  1. The West 49th North Bridge over I-15 is closed for the next two weeks to undergo repairs. During this time, there will be no through traffic allowed between North 26th West (Old Butte Road) and Lindsay Boulevard. The resurfacing and repairs aim to enhance the safety and longevity of the bridge, and drivers are advised to follow traffic laws and construction signs while traveling through the work zones.   2. The Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) is organizing a National Night Out event today, Aug. 1, inviting community members to interact with local law enforcement and enjoy a night of summer fun. Held at Freeman Park bandshell from 5:00-8:00 p.m., the event will feature opportunities to meet IFPD officers, explore patrol and SWAT vehicles, and learn about law enforcement in the community. The open house format will include a showcase of specialty vehicles and equipment, along with activities to educate the public about the Crime Scene Investigations team's work, and the chance to ask questions and build relationships with local police, K-9s, and dispatch officials.   3. On Saturday night, a structure fire in Idaho Falls resulted in $80,000 worth of damage, but fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The fire quickly spread to vehicles and a neighbor's fence, threatening nearby structures, but firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within eight minutes of arriving on the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature. (East Idaho News)
