Illinois Hunter Dies After Being Accidentally Shot In Face: DNR
Seth Egelhoff of Chesterfield was shot by a member of his hunting party and died before he could be airlifted to a hospital, officials said.
ILLINOIS — A hunter from downstate Illinois died on Saturday after authorities said he was accidentally shot in the face by a member of his hunting party in Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reported on Saturday that Seth Egelhoff of Chesterfield died while being moved to an area where he could be airlifted to a hospital after he was accidentally shot in the face, officials said.
The law enforcement arm of the Iowa DNR reported that it received a call around 1 p.m. that Egelhoff was shot while he and his hunting party were hunting waterfowl in the Bays Branch Wildlife Area near Pandora, which is 40 miles northwest of Des Moines.

Egelhoff was being moved to an area by medics where he could be airlifted for further medical treatment, but he died en route, the DNR said.
Officials said they believed the shooting to be accidental. The shooting remains under investigation by the DNR and local police.
