Snow Could Cause Hazardous Travel Thursday Night; Sub-Zero Wind Chills On The Way

Here's when snow is expected to start Thursday evening.

A "quick-moving weather system" could bring accumulating snow to parts of the Chicago area, leading to hazardous travel condition on Thursday evening and overnight, according to the National Weather Service.

"The vast majority of the snow is currently anticipated to fall mainly southwest of the Chicago metro," the weather service said.

Right now, most of the Chicago area will see under 1 inch of snow, with some areas to the south and southwest forecast for up to 2 inches of snow.

"With temperatures in the 20s, snow will readily accumulate on untreated pavement, even where amounts may only reach 1 to 2 inches," the weather service said.

The snow is expected between 6 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.
