AURORA, IL -- Aurora Animal Care and Control is hoping to find homes for dozens of pets during its annual"Clear the Shelters" event. During the Aug. 17 event, held in partnership with Telemundo and NBC, would-be pet parents can get adoption fees waived for pets who are six months old or older.

Anna Payton, manager of Aurora Animal Care and Control, encourages residents to come meet and greet the animals, even if they are still on the fence. "We have a variety of dog and cats of all breeds and personalities. We are confident we can help you find your next furry family member," Payton said.

The Aurora"Clear the Shelters" event is one of more than a thousand that are planned throughout the country. The event waives the adoption fees, but still requires pet owners to go through the application process, which involves each family member meeting the pet.
