Lehnertz Avenue Christmas Display Welcomes Visitors For 74th Year
The display on Aurora's Far East Side will be lit up nightly into the new year.

AURORA, IL — The long-standing tradition of a Christmas display decorating Lehnertz Avenue in Aurora is back for the 74th year.
The Lehnertz Avenue Christmas display, a drive-thru-style event on Aurora's Far East Side, features lights, lawn signs and cutout figures of religious and secular figures. It's recognized as the oldest free Christmas display in Illinois.
Saturday served as the soft-opening for the display to give neighbors the opportunity to find any last-minute fixes before it opened to visitors at 6 p.m. Sunday with Fr. Godwin Asuquo, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Aurora, overseeing the traditional crib blessing.
