AURORA, IL ­— Local drivers are being asked to make adjustments to their route if they are traveling in the area on Thursday as crews are working to repair a gas line, Aurora Police said.

Police said in a social media post that crews are working on the southbound lane of East York Street and McCoy Drive on Thursday to repair the gas line. The work will shut down the area to traffic until further notice, police said.

Police wrote in the post that residents may smell a strong odor of natural gas while the work is being completed. Officials also told drivers to expect delays if they are traveling in that direction.

Officials did not give a specific timeline for when the repairs would be completed.
