Loaded Handgun Found Underneath Car, Man Arrested: Aurora Police

Detectives from Aurora PD were on an unrelated investigation when they saw Morgan grab suspiciously at his waistband, police said.

AURORA, IL – An Aurora man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after a loaded handgun was found hidden underneath a parked car, police said. Detectives from the Aurora Police Department were investigating the 300 block of Monomoy Street around 7:30 p.m. May 17 when they saw 20-year-old Terrell Morgan grab at his waistband as if he were hiding a gun, according to police reports.

The Aurora detectives were working on an unrelated case when they saw Morgan acting suspiciously. Police said that when Morgan spotted the officers, he placed an object underneath a nearby vehicle and began walking away. One of the detectives then looked under the same car and found a loaded 9mm handgun. Police said Morgan began to run but didn't get very far.

He was taken into custody and charged with four felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon through the Kane County State's Attorney.

The charges against Morgan are not proof of guilt. He is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the burden of the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
