Aurora Man Gets 18 to 180 Years In Prison for Sexually Assaulting Child

31-year-old Angel Gallegos Ortiz is awaiting prison, his sentence is 18 to 180 years for sexually assaulting a child.

AURORA, IL - A Kane County jury deliberated for about an hour on May 19 before convicting 31-year-old Angel Gallegos Ortiz for sexually assaulting a child younger than 13-years-old and whom he knew.

Ortiz, of the 300 block of Blackhawk St., was convicted of three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, each a Class X felony, according to a press release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Kane County prosecutors presented evidence that the felonies took place between August 2013 and April 2015.

Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler, Jr., set Ortiz’s next court appearance for 1:30 p.m. July 20 for motions and sentencing. Ortiz faces a sentence between 18 and 180 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

In addition to the prison term, Ortiz must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.

Ortiz remains in custody at the Kane County jail.
