Aurora Overnight Warming Center Will Be Open Thanksgiving Weekend
The temporary warming center will be open for four nights in Aurora, city officials announced.
AURORA, IL — Aurora's temporary overnight warming center will open for four consecutive nights over Thanksgiving weekend, city officials said Wednesday.
Locals and visitors in need of warmth can visit the Financial Empowerment Center, 712 S. River St., between 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Wednesday through Sunday. Guests can enter through the main door, and they'll be buzzed in through security.

Wind-whipped snow showers and flurries are possible on Wednesday, when wind chills will be around 15 to 20 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Thanksgiving Day on Thursday will not be quite as windy, but still "blustery and cold," the weather service said. Accumulating snow is expected to impact travel in the area starting late Friday night through Saturday night, according to the weather service.
