Aurora's National Police Week Memorial Ceremony: May 20
Aurora Police invite the community to remember those who served in the line of duty.

AURORA, IL – Aurora’s 20th National Police Week comes to a close with its annual ceremony and salute for current and former police officers Saturday, May 20. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Plaza outside the Aurora Police Department's headquarters at 1200 E. Indian Trail.
There will be a service dedicated to the memories of Alfred Olin and Thompson Richardson, the only two Aurora police officers to ever be killed in the line of duty.
Three active and retired Aurora police officers who passed since last year's police week will also be memorialized: Capt. Melvin R. Kramer, Sgt. Stephen W. Wennmacher, Lt. William Hornyan, and Court Detention Technician Dean Pederson.

Members of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni will be selling food after the event and there will be APD vehicles up close and personal to check out.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the APD Community Room.
