Broadway Reopens To Traffic In Time For Christmas

A stretch of the busy downtown Aurora road was down to one lane in each direction for two months while crews installed a new water main.

AURORA, IL — Broadway reopened to traffic Friday, just in time for Christmas, city officials announced.

All lanes of traffic on the downtown Aurora street, also known as Route 25, have opened to traffic, officials said in an announcement posted at 8:22 a.m. on Facebook.

Parking will once again be available on both the east and west sides of Broadway.

In October, the busy thoroughfare was reduced to one lane in each direction between Benton Street and Spring Street while crews installed a new water main to improve the quality and function of the water distribution system in Aurora, Patch reported.

Officials projected the project's completion to be before the end of the year.
