AURORA, IL — The East Aurora Class of 2025 will undoubtedly go down as one of the most impressive graduating classes in the history of the district. This group of seniors is on pace to not only be one of the largest graduating classes but also one of the most honored and highly recognized through the college admissions process, as well as through local and national scholarship awards.

On May 13, East Aurora High School hosted their annual Honors Night to acknowledge the most distinguished members of the senior class. Over 240 students and their families were invited to be honored. Nearly 100 graduating seniors were awarded the Golden Cord to be worn at graduation, recognizing them for earning an unweighted Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher while passing all of their classes. Almost 80 students were awarded the Silver Cord, honoring their commitment to their community for having completed over 120 hours of service. The event also recognized the over 75 students that earned credit by taking classes at Waubonsee Community College, through the district’s innovative Early College Program.

The highlight of any Honors Night is when individual students are recognized for specific scholarship awards. Sponsors from local organizations, donors, and East Aurora dignitaries invite each student on stage to offer acknowledgment and accolades. One of the largest local scholarship consortiums, the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley awarded a record 94 students with scholarships. Some of our most highly accomplished Tomcats were also recognized by among of the most prestigious and competitive national scholarships, such as Golden Apple, Coca Cola and the Gates Scholarship. A full list of honorees can be found here.

In a statement of gratitude, Honors Night organizers wrote, “Thank you to all of our community partners and donors for their generosity in supporting the Class of 2025 towards realizing their educational goals, to our students and their families for representing the best of East High and D131, and to our faculty and administration for providing the instruction, encouragement, and opportunities for our students to meet their potential and be recognized for their amazing accomplishments. We would also like to acknowledge the efforts and leadership of Nakita Stewart, Division Chair for Guidance, for organizing and coordinating this Honors Night event. “
