East Aurora High School Launches First-Ever Girls Flag Football Team

AURORA, IL — On Monday, August 25, 2025, history was made on Roy E. Davis Field as the East Aurora Tomcats hosted their first-ever girls flag football game against Elgin High School. The night marked the beginning of a 10-game season, including five opportunities for the community to cheer on the Tomcats at home.

The launch of the program reflects District 131’s commitment to expanding athletic opportunities and promoting equity in sports. With girls flag football gaining momentum across Illinois, East Aurora is proud to be part of this growing movement.

“This program is about more than competition—it’s about visibility, empowerment, and giving our students new ways to lead and thrive,” said Athletics Director Noel De La Mar, reflecting the pride felt across East Aurora as athletes step onto the field and into a new chapter.
