False Alarm Bomb Threat At Presence Mercy Medical Center: Police

Police said the threat was due to his dissatisfaction with wait room times at the hospital and his level of intoxication.

AURORA, IL - A 57-year-old Chicago man told an ER security guard at Presence Mercy Medical Center he had a bomb in his backpack Thursday at 8:25 p.m., according to a Facebook post by the Aurora Police Department.

The threat was allegedly due to the man being dissatisfied with the wait room times at the hospital and his level of intoxication, according to the police. Security did not believe the threat to be credible but still escorted him outside and contacted the police.

The backpack was then taken from the man as a precaution and the Kane County Bomb Squad was called. They responded to the scene and no explosives were found. The man was then admitted for a psychiatric evaluation and charges are pending.
