CeCe Peniston, Julian "Jumpin" Perez: First-Ever House Music Fest In Aurora

More than a dozen performers, including legendary house DJs, are slated to perform at the inaugural A-Town House Music Fest.

AURORA, IL — Aurora is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the birth of house music, started in Chicago, with the first-ever house music festival in downtown Aurora this fall.

RiverEdge Park and the City of Aurora partnered up to present the inaugural A-Town House Music Fest on Sept. 28. Gates will open at 2 p.m., and the party will start at 3 p.m.

"It's the inaugural A-Town House Music Fest, the grand finale of a summer long celebration around Chicago," reads an announcement email from RiverEdge Park. "We invite you and your friends to groove to the irresistible four-on-the-floor beats by legendary DJs and musical artists who tap into the roots of soul, funk, and R&B with powerful electronic dance music."

"They’re all inspired by a youth-led music movement that began in 1984 among the DJs of Chicago, combining soul, R&B, funk, electronica and irresistible four-on-the-floor beats," organizers wrote in a news release. "It rocketed from the underground dance scene to the radio, and flourishes in dance clubs and festivals around the world to this day."

Tickets to the festival cost $40 and can be purchased through the park's website.
