Gas Price Update: Prices In Aurora See Increase From July
The average price for a gallon of gas in Kane County was $4.09 as of Thursday.

AURORA, IL — Average gas prices in Illinois have increased in August compared to mid-July. Extreme heat has played a role, according to AAA.
At around $4.09 per gallon in Kane County, gas prices were higher than the state average, coming in at $4.04 Thursday — that's up 15 cents from a month ago, AAA data show. The last time Patch looked at gas prices, the average in Aurora was $3.93 per gallon.
Nationally, the price per gallon of gas was going for an average of $3.82 Thursday.

"Last month's extreme heat played a role in the recent spike in gas prices due to some refineries pulling back, but now operations are getting back to normal," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement. "Coupled with tepid demand and declining oil prices, this may help take the steam out of the tight supply price jolts we've seen lately."
According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Aurora is selling for $3.57 per gallon at Shell, 407 S. Lake St. Here is what other stations around town are charging:
