Inaugural Filipino Flag Raising Planned In Aurora

The event will feature food sampling, an award ceremony and special performances.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will host Friday its inaugural Filipino flag-raising ceremony in celebration of Filipino American History Month.

Residents and business owners are invited to attend the event, happening at 11 a.m. at One Aurora Plaza, 8 E. Galena Blvd.

The ceremony will feature an award presentation, Filipino cuisine sampling, and special performances from Kayla Tejero, the first person to win Aurora's Got Talent competition, and Lou Ella Rose, lead singer of SamaSama Project, a Filipino folk fusion band.
