AURORA, IL — Christkindlmarket is returning to Aurora this winter, organizers announced Monday, marking the German-style holiday market's fourth season in Illinois's second-largest city.

RiverEdge Park, located at 360 N. Broadway, will serve as the site for Christkindlmarket beginning Nov. 21 through Dec. 24.

The Aurora market will be the "largest ever organized" by German American Events, the Chicago-based nonprofit that puts on the Christkindlmarket. More than 60 local and international vendors are expected, according to a news release.

"This year, guests may notice construction at RiverEdge Park, allowing for an even bigger and better event space in the future," organizers wrote. "The market will continue to offer the same cherished traditions, festive atmosphere, and magical holiday experience visitors know and love."

Live entertainment and special events are also planned "to create a festive holiday atmosphere," organizers said.

Aurora is the only municipality outside of Chicago hosting Christkindlmarket. In Chicago, the market will return to Daley Plaza in the Loop and Gallagher Way in Wrigleyville on Nov. 21 and Nov. 23, respectively, just in time for Thanksgiving.

All locations are modeled after the classic German holiday market in Nuremberg, Germany, with traditional candy cane-striped huts.
