Man Charged With Animal Neglect In North Aurora
Police say rottweiler Hercules had been in a cage in a garage long enough to defecate and urinate in the cage and on himself.

NORTH AURORA, IL — A North Aurora man faces animal neglect charges after police say a cleaning person found the dog he owned caged inside of a garage and covered in urine and feces in early November. Santos Chavez, 25, formerly of the 1000 block of Kilbery Lane, was charged with failure to provide necessary care, which is a misdemeanor.
According to police, the dog, who is named Hercules, had been left in the cage "long enough to urinate and defecate in the cage and on himself." Police say Chavez had moved out of his home a day before the dog was found.
Chavez then returned to his home to pick up the moving truck and agreed to surrender Hercules to a nearby shelter, police say. Hercules has since been adopted and is doing "quite well," according to a press release.
