New Mariachi Showroom In Aurora Is 'More Than Just A Retail Space'
The showroom is intended to be a "cultural hub ... and connect families and musicians through music, tradition, and community."

AURORA, IL — Aurora residents will soon get to experience the tradition of mariachi music at a new showroom dedicated to the art form.
PM Music Center, an instrument store that first opened in 1982, is opening an in-house showroom "designed to serve as a hub for Chicagoland’s mariachi musicians, educators, and enthusiasts — offering a curated selection of high-quality instruments, accessories, and repair services tailored to the unique needs of mariachi performers."
Mariachi Mercado will celebrate its grand opening with a free celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at 4411 Fox Valley Center Drive.

The grand opening event will feature a live performance by Mariachi Flor de Primavera, tacos from the food truck Tacomotora and family-friendly arts and crafts. Visitors will also be able to check out the showroom that features mariachi instruments, including the guitarron and vihuela.
"Mariachi Mercado isn’t just a showroom — it's our way to support our local mariachi community," Harley Figueroa, director of scholastic programs at PM Music Center, said in a statement. "We’re creating a space where mariachi music is not only celebrated but also supported at every level, from student musicians to professional performers."
