Pedestrian Struck By Metra Train In Aurora: Police

AURORA, IL — A man was struck by a train Monday afternoon in Aurora, officials said.

Officers and medics were dispatched just before 1 p.m. to the Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway, to find a man unconscious along the train tracks. He suffered from "significant head injuries," according to Aurora Police Department spokesperson Jim Levicki.

The preliminary information suggested the man "came into contact with a moving commuter train," Levicki said. The train was operated by Metra, company spokesperson Meg Thomas-Reile told Patch.

"The crew reported that a person walked into the moving train as it was pulling into the station," she said.

Levicki said the man was transported to a Level 1 trauma center, which provides the highest level of trauma care.

Metra Police is investigating the collision. Train No. 1260, which was scheduled to arrive at 2:20 p.m. at Union Station in Chicago, did not operate due to police activity, Metra BNSF shared on X. Passengers were accommodated on Train No. 1262, which departed Aurora at 2:05 p.m.
