See What Aurora Has In Store For Pride Month

Aurora is kicking off Pride Month with two celebrations this weekend.

AURORA, IL — Aurora is celebrating Pride Month by hosting two events this weekend, starting with Pride at the Plaza on Saturday ahead of the annual parade on Sunday.

Aurora's LGBTQ Advisory Board will transform Stolp Avenue in downtown Aurora into a hub of live music, entertainment and community. Food trucks, vendors, a drag performance and other artist appearances are planned from 6-10 p.m.

"We're thrilled to kick off Aurora’s Pride weekend with this event," Zachary Bishop, chair of the Aurora LGBTQ Board, said in a statement. "We're building on last year's success to make this celebration even better with fantastic performers, delicious food and an inclusive space for everyone to enjoy."

A $5 admission is suggested at the door and will benefit the Denee Mallon Scholarship Fund, which aims to help members of the LGBTQ community in Aurora with education.

Pride at the Plaza will precede the Aurora Pride Parade, which will step off at noon at the intersection of East Benton Street and South Broadway. From there, the procession will travel northeast up Broadway, turn left onto Downer Place and end at West Downer Place and North Middle Avenue.
