Train Derailment Causes 'Extensive Delays' Near Aurora: Metra
Commuter traffic was halted after a freight train derailed in Aurora.

AURORA, IL — Metra service was restored along the BNSF line around 8 a.m. after a freight train derailment in Aurora caused "extensive delays," officials said.
"Inbound and outbound train service is halted near Route 59 due to a freight train derailment. Customers are advised to seek alternate transportation," Metra alerted commuters just before 6 a.m.
Metra officials said the freight train derailment happened near a salvage yard in the 600 block of McClure Road in Aurora, WGN reported, saying two freight cars could be seen sitting across at least five tracks.

After inbound and outbound service was restored, Metra said commuters should expect residual delays following the incident.
