Winter Lights Fest In Aurora: What To Expect In 2024

Aurora will usher in the holiday season with the annual Christmas tree lighting, a nighttime parade and a new drone show.

AURORA, IL — Aurora will usher in the holiday season with its annual Winter Lights Fest on Nov. 22.

The celebration, running from 6-9 p.m. downtown, will feature a nighttime parade, a Christmas tree lighting and a drone show, new this year.

The parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Downer Place and Water Street then head west on Downer Place to River Street. The tree lighting will commence at the GAR Memorial Hall, 23 E. Downer Place, right after the procession — community countdown and all.

A drone show will end the trifecta of planned events, lighting up the sky over downtown.

Once the three events, visitors can mill about the downtown area to partake in myriad activities:

  • Free photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Paramount School of the Arts
  • Music and dancing with DJ Suavesmooth
  • Live music at the Millenium Plaza Gazebo on Stolp Avenue
  • Photos with costumed characters and special backdrops on Downer Place and Stolp Avenue
  • Food trucks and vendors on Stolp Avenue
  • Special holiday deals at participating downtown businesses
