CHICAGO — Now that we know he is a White Sox fan, the Archdiocese of Chicago is holding a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of the election of Pope Leo XIV at Rate Field on Saturday, June 14.
Tickets for “Chicago Celebrates Pope Leo XVI” will go on sale Friday, May 30 at 10 a.m. for $5 each on Ticketmaster. On-site parking will also be available for $5.
The first American to be elected pope — the former Robert Prevost from south suburban Dolton — Pope Leo’s message of peace, unity and the key to a meaningful life have touched hearts across the globe. This celebration is an extraordinary opportunity for Chicagoans and beyond to come together in shared pride for one of their own, Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich announced on YouTube.

All Catholics and other faith traditions are invited to this extraordinary event. Chicago Bulls announcer Chuck Swirsky will emcee a special program of music, film, in-person testimonials and prayer.

Pope Leo XIV will greet Chicagoland and off the first broadcast of his special video message to the young people of the world.
Cardinal Cupich will greet the crowd and be the main celebrant and homilist during the Catholic Mass.
Gates open at 12:30 p.m., followed by the program at 2:30 p.m. and concluding with the 4 p.m. Mass Saturday, June 14, at Rate Field, 333 W. 35th Ave., Chicago. The Sox will be on the road that day, playing the Texas Rangers.
