Nearly $60,000 Raised For Family Of Late CPD Detective

A GoFundMe effort has begun to help the family of the late Chicago Police Department Detective Todd Gillerlain.

CHICAGO — A GoFundMe effort to help the family of the late Chicago Police Department Detective Todd Gillerlain, a resident of the city's West Beverly neighborhood, has begun and as of Monday afternoon has raised nearly $60,000. Gillerlain died on May 7 at age 48. A memorial service included several vehicles that went through the neighborhood on the day of his services.

The money raised from the effort will help fund Gillerlain's high school age children's education and his wife, Regina with household and living expenses, according to the GoFundMe page.

"We would like to do our best to payback his generosity by supporting his family in their time of need. Todd is no longer here to provide for his family, and his friends have now come together to start this campaign in order to ease the financial burden they must endure alone."
