Patrick Kane Probably Won't Be Charged with Rape: Report
Kane says he's "looking forward to any type of conclusion" but he's focusing on hockey. Sources say prosecutors now doubt accuser's story.

The rape investigation of Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane likely will end without criminal charges, sources tell The Buffalo News.
On Sunday after practice, Kane told Blackhawks beat reporters he’s going to continue to focus on hockey and hope the situation ends soon.
“Obviously, you’re looking forward to any type of conclusion, whatever it might be, you just want (the prosecutors) to make their decision,” Kane said. “I’m at the rink. ... That’s my job, that’s my profession — to be a hockey player. So with that being said, you worry about that other stuff when you’re away from the rink. And when you’re here, it’s kind of like you get away, being here with your teammates and playing hockey.

“It’s kind of my little getaway.”
One month ago, the case seemed destined for a grand jury. Now, three sources tell The Buffalo News the investigation is “going nowhere” because prosecutors have developed significant doubts about the woman’s allegations.

“I was told … the case will be administratively dismissed,” a source told The News.
On Aug. 2, a 21-year-old woman left a Buffalo-area bar with a girlfriend, Kane and a male friend of his and went to Kane’s home in Hamburg, N.Y. She left the home after midnight, went to a hospital and told police Kane sexually assaulted her. She said Kane bit her and scratched her leg.
Sources say results of a rape test kit show no evidence of Kane’s DNA in her undergarments or below her waist.
On Sunday, Kane said he would not comment on the reports. He also said his attorney has not spoked with the district attorney and has no insight into whether the case is coming to an end.
“Those are just reports, and not really any facts or anything so far,” Kane said, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report. “So for me to comment on that would be going against what we’ve been doing the whole time, so I’m not really going to say much about it until the district attorney addresses everything and he make his decision.”
As he waits, however, Kane has faced both protests and supportive fans, as well as hecklers in the arenas of Blackhawks foes.
