The 55-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 55-year-old Willowbrook motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Boughton Road, according to the Will County Coroner's Office. Authorities said the man, Francis B. Avanzado, was heading east in the 1100 block of Boughton when he struck another vehicle.

The coroner's office said Avanzado was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:13 p.m. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

An officer responding to the Boughton Road crash was injured when a motorist drove around emergency vehicles blocking the scene just after 5 p.m. and struck the officer before fleeing, Bolingbrook police said. The hit and run sparked a police chance that ended at Washington Street and Naper Boulevard, where officers attempting to stop the fleeing vehicle opened fire.
