Denise Smith, Founder of Smith Physical Therapy+, Named 2025 McHenry County Woman of Distinction

Crystal Lake, IL, - Denise Smith, local leader, physical therapist, educator, and community champion, has been named a 2025 McHenry County Woman of Distinction and we, at Smith Physical Therapy+, couldn’t be prouder to celebrate her incredible impact. The Women of Distinction Award honors women who go above and beyond in their careers and communities. The honorees are recognized for leading by example and inspiring change. Founder of Smith Physical Therapy +, Denise has dedicated her life to helping others move better, live stronger and chase their goals. With a master’s degree in physical therapy from Marquette University and a long list of advanced certifications, Denise brings unmatched expertise and passion to her work every single day. Her career has provided her local, national and international experience with opportunities including: consulting with the Russian Olympic/National Triathlon Team, traveling the country with the POSE Method Education Team, teaching Kinesiology at McHenry County College and coaching student athletes in cross country at Marian Catholic High School in Woodstock.

Denise is a proud mom of two, a devoted wife, and a firm believer in giving back. She serves on the Crystal Lake City Council, volunteers for countless local causes, and directs community races like the McHenry County Santa Run, the Crystal Lake Aquathon and the Crystal Lake Half Marathon. She’s the kind of person who makes time when there’s no time because helping others is just who she is.

The 2025 Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon was held June 4th at Boulder Ridge Country Club. The event included a welcome reception with networking opportunities, followed by lunch and the awards ceremony where honorees shared their stories. It was an opportunity to shine a spotlight on women like Denise who make a difference in the community every day.
