Downers Grove Garage Fire Caused $400,000 in Damage
No injuries were reported in the Monday morning fire.

No one was injured in a Monday morning house fire in Downers Grove that required assistance from 12 area fire departments.
Darien-Woodridge Fire District personnel responded at 4:25 a.m. Sept. 21 to the 6100 block of Janes Avenue, according to the fire district.
The first arriving unit found heavy fire coming from an attached garage, moving into the attic and second-floor living space.

The smell of smoke woke the homeowner, who found the fire in the garage. He woke up the other people in the house and told the commander everyone was out.
The incident commander elevated the fire to a Mutual Aide Box Alarm System around 4:42 a.m., once the rest of the first alarm firefighters arrived, according to the fire district. Other departments were called to help, and most of the fire was extinguished by 5:20 a.m.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, and the damage is estimated to be more than $400,000.
Assisting departments included Tri-State, Pleasantview, Lemont, Oak Brook Terrace and Lisle-Woodridge Fire Districts, along with Bolingbrook, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Lombard, LaGrange Park and Westmont Fire Departments, some of which helped cover District Fire Stations and other calls during the Janes Avenue fire, according to the Darien-Woodridge Fire District.
