The Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street, Des Plaines, IL, announced the opening of Malcolm Mlodoch: Des Plaines Past and Present, a captivating new art exhibit highlighting both iconic landmarks and hidden corners of Des Plaines through recent decades.

Mlodoch is a lifelong resident of Des Plaines and has been documenting the city through his drawings and paintings since 1983. He spent his professional career as a commercial exhibit artist, and this showcase reflects his deep connection to both his craft and his community. His work features many local businesses, street scenes, neighborhood homes, and landscapes. Many of the images are of buildings that no longer exist, making his work especially meaningful to local and area residents. Most of the works are for sale; some pieces are on loan from Mlodoch family collections.
The exhibit is on display through Friday, August 29, with a closing reception and artist talk on Thursday, August 28, 5:30–8:00p. Details are on the History Center History Center event calendar: desplaineshistory.org.

The Des Plaines History Center is open Wednesdays, 1:00–5:00p, Thursdays, 1:00–4:00p, and Fridays, 1:00–5:00p. It collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Des Plaines and provides access to those resources through exhibits, educational programs, and research facilities. Many of the programs and events are free for families, children, and adults. Membership is encouraged to help sustain our work in light of funding cuts to Museums and Humanities organizations across the country. More information about the Education Center and the Kinder House Museum is available at www.DesPlainesHistory.org.
