Ride Shares Cheaper, Safer Than DUI On New Year's Eve: Police
The Des Plaines Police Department believes using a ride share service or sober driver may not only save you some money, but also a life.
DES PLAINES, IL — The Des Plaines Police Department is urging residents to consider using a ride share service or make sure they have a sober driver during the upcoming New Year's festivities. The police department said an Uber is almost always cheaper than a DUI, and usually safer, which are two things to consider before getting behind the wheel after partying.
While the police department admits it may be more expensive to use a ride share service on New Year's Eve and during holiday weekends due to supply and demand costs, they believe using a ride share service or sober driver may not only save you some money, but also a life.
"However when you consider the cost of retaining a lawyer, court costs, victim impact classes, the rental and installation of the Alcohol Testing Ignition Interlock device, you may now be close to $10,000.00 before your done," the department wrote on their Facebook page.
